I am here still waiting for my new Samsung Omnia W to arrive. Apparently it's going to take another day. But that's understandable because according to a
recent report from IHS, a lot of people are starting to consider WP for their next smartphone. According to their latest report, Microsoft's Windows Phone is expected to outsell Apple's iOS in another three year's time. Windows Phone currently enjoys an encouraging 1.9% market share in the smartphone market. This is expected to shoot up to 16.7% in another three years time. Apple's market share at that point is expected to hover around 16.2%, which means Microsoft is going to whoop Apple by then.
But what's interesting is that the game is expected to go Google's way completely by then. Android's market share is expected to hit 58.1% by then. That's a lot but expected considering it's a Google-controlled "open source" product that a lot of manufacturers are adopting in their handsets. With pressure on the handset makers to reduce the price to increase their market share, Android seems to be the OS to adopt. It's free, and as we've heard from elsewhere, the cost of Windows Phone OS is around $23. Now, that's definitely something that is going to prevent WP from becoming as popular as Android.
